PCmag's Top 20 Job Websites

After 8 years of collecting data, analyzing trends and testing uncountable numbers of landing pages the website that i took from concept to launch has finally received recognition by PCmag.com as #4 on their list of Top 20 Job Websites.

While it has been a year since i left the company, I still find it rewarding that my dedication and hard work has been recognized.

In this market job seekers need all the help they can get, I being one of them.

this market finds hiring companies being more selective and more willing to "hold out" for the perfect match than any other.

A recent poll of executive recruiters has shown that 50% of them find that "Slow / Hesitant Clients" are their greatest challenge in this market. This is not only a problem for recruiters, but also, candidates.

With unemployment continually on the rise most companies believe that the perfect match is out there, so they are more apt to over-evaluate prospects under the assumption that the ideal candidate to fit their mold exists. Since recruiters are paid my companies they are also falling into line with the companies, making job searches for candidate considerably more challenging.

Search Engine Strategies - New York...What a let down!

I went to SES New York yesterday to take a look at exhibitors.

I must say I was disappointed...pretty much the "same old-same old"... except the primary reason we all browse the exhibit hall...cheesy little give-aways.... were few and far between...infact i did not take any..they were that mundane....there is an hour of my life i will never get back.

Purple People Eater

I recently heard the song "purple people eater" by Sheb Wooley.

After listening to it a question comes to mind, a conundrum if you will.... "Is the people eater itself actually purple?...or...Does it only feed on purple people?"

I have a theory on this subject...but would love to hear what others think as well.

If you haven't heard the song below is a link to a cover performed by Milkman Alice:

Thanks!

Time to find a Job

So I have spent most of the last year trying to build a business...but the economy had other plans...

I am now officially actively looking for new employment.

I see my biggest challenge being the ability to effectively communicate my broad experience to potential employers.

My career path has been a winding one, but there have been some constant themes to it.

Specifically, Leadership, Team Development and Motivation, Performance Management through the use of Analytical Analysis and the effective implementation of positive change within organizations.

These core themes have been applied in a variety of fields, to include the military, manufacturing, human resources and recruiting and digital marketing.

I see my challenge as being overcoming the preconceived notions of hiring managers that because my most recent job was a cross of HR and Marketing I am really not a fit for either....when, in fact, the core themes I am expert in can be easily transferred to just about any discipline.
